The National Humane Society (NHS) believes that with the proper information in our communities we can avoid many unecessary deaths among pet populations.

 

FREE KNOWLEDGE FOR A RICH UNDERSTANDING !

Public Education
The National Humane Society also promotes education of the public concerning humane population control to help reduce the horrific number of animals impounded and destroyed each year at animal shelters.

 

Disaster Preparedness
Assists with disaster preparedness courses and provides Disaster Relief throughout the eastern United States with its ten member Disaster Animal Relief Team (DART).

 

Spay and Neuter Initiative
Provides low-cost spaying and neutering thorough their mobile spay and neuter vehicles. Other programs include the Feral Cat Program and the Senior Pet Care Program.

 

Pet Adoptions
The National Humane Society has been rescuing injured and abused animals for over a decade. They also provide links nationwide to help link homeless pets with loving families.

 

Pet Therapy
Volunteers join their pet partner to provide unconditional love to patients confined in convalescent homes.

 

Pre-Vet Training
Assists aspiring students gain experience through hands-on rescue work, done in cooperation with the mobile spay/neuter program and supervised by a licensed veterinarian.

 

 
Animal Rescue - Disaster Response Team

 

The National Humane Society has been instrumental in providing animal services during major disasters like:
  • Hurricane Katrina - ** Active Response **
  • Tsunami in Phuket Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) 32 days..
  • 9-11 Emergency in New York City
  • Everglade Fires
  • Hurricane Andrew


In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Disaster Animal Response Team, and many local rescue agencies our disaster volunteers are trained and certified.
